Russia has much to offer us. The Russians know the darker side of history but they also understand the extraordinary power of art, music and literature and have produced a culture of extraordinary richness and variety. We will visit St Petersburg, explore the Russian countryside, and enjoy Moscow to discover these manifestations of beauty, permeated by the spiritual qualities of the Russian people. June-July is a special time to travel in Russia. We will enjoy the "Stars of the White Nights" festival that takes place every year at the Mariinsky Theatre. Following the footsteps of the great architects, artists, writers and musicians, we will visit churches, monasteries, Imperial palaces and museums. Many optional performances are available in the program. Venues include the Mariinsky Theatre and the Hermitage Theatre, the Conservatory in St Petersburg, and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
