Korea: North and South
Departing 06-Sep-2011
to 24-Sep-2011
Lying near the Japanese plate, Korea has been moulded, folded and leached into mountains, crags, valleys, streams and waterfalls. A mountain runs along the East coast, while the south and west present a coastline of inlets, islets and fjords. These provide unsurpassed scenery and hiking opportunities. History has not been kind to Korea: at times internally divided, it has been successively ravaged by Mongols, Manchus and Japanese, and finally dividing on itself. This has produced a wealth of historic sites and a people of character and resilience, as we will see. Historic, scenic and cultured, Korea has much to offer. We hope you will join us in this exploration.
