Melanie Pitkin

Melanie Pitkin graduated with a Bachelor of Ancient History (Honours) majoring in Egyptology from Macquarie University in 2006 and a Master of Museum Studies (Merit) from the University of Sydney in 2008. She is currently studying for her PhD in Egyptology, again at Macquarie University. Melanie's expertise lies in Old Kingdom and First Intermediate Period history. She has been a member of the Macquarie archaeological expeditions to Saqqara and Deir el-Gebrawi; worked as a research assistant at the Australian Centre for Egyptology and in 2006 undertook a placement in the Department of Ancient Egypt and Sudan at the British Museum and the Egypt Exploration Society, London. Melanie also works as a Curator of Design and Society at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
