Len Amadio
Len Amadio AO is a member of one of Australia`s most famous music families. His father, Clive Amadio was a saxophonist and clarinetist; Neville his uncle and John his great uncle were both flautists. Len has had a distinguished career in music and Arts administration, first in the Australian Broadcasting Commission, and subsequently in senior Arts positions in the South Australian Government. He served on the Boards of many national Arts and Cultural organisations including the Adelaide Arts Festival; Australian Opera; Australian National Commission for Unesco and the Australian Bicentennial Arts Planning Committee. One of his great passions has been his involvement over several decades with the development of the Australian Youth Orchestra, including touring overseas with them on five occasions and as member of the National Board of the organisation for many years. Len has travelled extensively in Europe and North America, attending numerous Music and Opera Festivals; to China-as a member of the first Australian Cultural delegation in 1978; and throughout East and South East Asia. He has led ten previous Music tours to Europe for Alumni Travel, including three for the Australian Chamber Orchestra, as well as two tours to Adelaide for cultural events.
