Ian Brookes
Ian Brookes is a former Australian army officer and a UN/UNICEF Official and has very extensive knowledge and experience in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos and more recently in Yunnan, south China, which is a natural extension of his activities in northern Vietnam. Ian held a senior civilian position in the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia - UNTAC. Ian has a close association with Vietnam through military service and later with UNICEF based in Hanoi. Ian is the focal point for the Australian skills-enhanced and supported Khmer eye surgeons and has worked and travelled in Indochina in various capacities for each of the past seventeen years including as a tour manager and tour leader for several organisations for tours to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos including cross-border tours, including the southern China Province of Yunnan. Other work includes assisting major university archaeological surveys, commune school development projects and for the BBC Natural History Unit. Ian enjoys trekking in remoter and beautiful areas with others of a similar disposition and fitness. |
