Grethe Knudsen
Grethe Knudsen began taking organised tours in 1989 to parts of the world with which she was familiar and in 1994 she was invited to lead tours for Alumni Travel. Her tours to Oberammergau, Eastern Europe, The Baltic States, Saint Petersburg, Finland, Scandinavia and both Eastern and Western Turkey, further established her reputation as a specialist in the field of Travel for Mature Travellers. As a result of her interest and experience she has lectured internationally in Educational Travel and in 1999, as a mature age student, she completed a Ph.D. motivated by her travel experiences. In more recent times she has specifically focused on tours to Scandinavia and Turkey. Grethe’s current tour to Scandinavia is a most comprehensive journey, the result of her personal and intimate knowledge, which has enabled her to design a tour reflecting her own Scandinavian origins. She is well-known in Turkish circles in Australia where her advice is often sought regarding travel to Turkey while she frequently attracts and informs travellers from the United Kingdom, Denmark, New Zealand and the United States. Extensive experience as a teacher at Elementary, Secondary and University levels has enabled Grethe to impart knowledge as an accomplished speaker while infecting her travelling companions with her own enthusiasm for life and the discovery of some less well known parts of the world. |
