Thank you to those of you who have given helpful feedback on the new public face of Alumni Travel. It is great to know you care enough to make suggestions on how we can make the site easier to navigate. As you can see, our tour range is quite extensive for next year and we have brochures ready to send to you on all tours listed in the last newsletter except those for Malaysia; Russia; Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland; and Laos. These should be ready by October.
Meanwhile deposits are coming in and tours are filling. We can only secure a place for you once we have received your booking form and deposit. Don’t forget the early ones for next year like Algeria and Tunisia, Egypt: From Alexandria to Abu Simbel and Burma: Land of Temples, Textiles and Rivers.
The dire situation in Syria and now also spilling into Iraq, reminds us that places we have loved for their cultural complexity, also carry the seeds of division if a power vacuum is created. These divisions go back for generations and are not helped when historically, western powers like the UK and France imposed fairly arbitrary boundaries to create their own spheres of influence last century. Let’s hope that the innocents caught up in this mess will be protected by forces with no loyalty to violence in political or religious guise. It seems unhappily though, that this will not be achieved in the short term.
