JOKOSO JAPANWelcome to JapanWith Simon Gentry27 April - 13 May 2009Central Honshu - the focus of this trip - has always been the hub of Japanese history. The fascinating city of Kyoto was the capital for over a century until it was transferred to Edo (Tokyo). Nearby centres/towns were sites of Daimyo (Warlord) activity, and so contain splendid fortifications and castles. But there's more then history: spectacular scenery along the Kiso Valley and into the Japanese Alps; a look at Toyoto's advanced technology; an overnight in a Buddhist Monastery high on Mount Koya and a chance to appreciate Tokyo's contemporary architecture. The tour diverts to places off the regular tourist route. Come and join us and see for yourself. Highlights
