Alumni Friends

Alumni Travel was created to provide travel experiences in some of the most fascinating and exotic parts of the world; places where negotiating personal travel can be a challenge, because of language and logistical difficulties.

Travel with a small group of like-minded souls, usually experienced travellers like you, and all seeking a travel experience that is as authentic as any travel experience into a new culture can be.  While you will have your own level of understanding of the destination you have chosen, you will be accompanied by a tour leader who is an authority on aspects of the destination, or who has spent many years getting to know it.

Your tour group will be utilising a variety of transport best suited to enhance your journey, and you will be staying in comfortable but not extravagant accommodation, well located to provide access to a range of points of interest for private exploration.

Alumni Travel has been providing travel experiences like this since 1989, and the best advertisement for the quality of our programs is the large number of travellers  who keep coming back to book with us each year. Read our traveller reviews here.

LAOS:
Textiles & Other Treasures
with Gay Spies
3 - 26 November 2014
Our small group tour visits three quite different parts of Laos, which were once independent kingdoms, and of the Mekong River.  It includes the charming World Heritage city of Luang Phrabang, the artistic, cultural and, until 1975, royal capital; bustling Vientiane, the administrative and political capital, still with small town feel; the stunning limestone karst scenery of Vang Vieng; the coffee and cardamon country of the Bolaven Plateau; another World Heritage site, Wat Phu, and surrounding Champasak, the cradle of Khmer civilisation; and travel on the Mekong among the 4000 Islands.  We visit traditional villages of the Lao and some of the many ethnic minorities, as well as the Khone Falls, the biggest in Asia.
